I arrived nice and early at St Peter's Church in Harold Wood for Tim & Samantha's wedding on what was another sunny day, following just a few days after my last wedding in nearby Hornchurch. Tim & Samantha had primarily booked me for coverage later in the day after the ceremony, but as the groom, groomsmen and guests tend to arrive a little early anyway, this meant I could 'set up' a bit of groom prep with Tim and his dad (who was also the best man) before the ceremony.
Sticking with tradition, sort of, Samantha turned up fashionably late with her bridesmaids in her father's bright yellow London taxi. She had a huge grin on her face which never really left her all day - so she was either super excited, or really nervous and doing a good job of hiding it! Throughout the ceremony there was dancing and signing, and an incredible atmosphere of happiness during what it still a very socially unpredictable time.
Afterwards, everyone piled out of the church into the sunshine, and welcomed the newlyweds with a shower of confetti. It wasn't long before we all made our way to the reception, held in a quaint village hall near Ongar. When we arrived, the hall was just finished being set up, with the plan to have a picnic style buffet as the 'wedding breakfast' before the speeches and a rather early first dance. Outside, some fuzzy friends had turned up for everyone to meet - two alpacas, courtesy of Isabel of Alpaca Products. I have to say, they were full of character and charisma!
Before I left, there was just time to take Tim & Samantha around the village for some photos of the two of them. It was a pretty small village, so this didn't take long! We found a lovely sun-drenched field across the road, and a few shady spots nearby, but soon it was time to say goodbye as their guests began to head home. What a lovely day, and a great couple to spend it with.
