As lockdown restrictions begin to ease and the weather begins to (sort of) warm up a bit, I got back in touch with Ella to revisit the idea of an outdoor lifestyle portrait session. We had tried to organise something earlier in the year, but with the weather not being on our side, we had to put our plans on hold for the time being.
With Canterbury being so close to the two of us, I suggested we meet there to explore the quiet back streets and find some hidden gems amongst an otherwise pretty busy city - with the plan to incorporate some spring flowers and colours wherever possible.
Ella has a background in beauty pageants, even representing Great Britain in her time, so she already had the basics down, and has a great smile she often threw into her poses! With a little encouragement and some extra direction, we got some great variety in the images we made as we wandered around the town.
Unfortunately the sun wasn't out on this particular day, nor was there as much blossom out as I had hoped for, but it was great to meet and work with someone new and try some new techniques. After such a long hiatus not being able to photograph people, it really felt like a breath of fresh air!
We both had a great afternoon, and Ella was a real joy to work with. There are so many amazing photos to choose from, so here are some of my favourites!
