Despite all the ups and downs of 2020, Bradley & Lia were quite fortunate in that they only had to postpone their big day by about a month, although given all the restrictions in December their wedding was still pretty different to how they had originally planned. Not to be deterred by everything, they still went ahead with their small, intimate ceremony at Cooling Castle Barn in Kent, with the hope to have a larger celebration sometime this year for all their family and friends.
Having worked at Cooling Castle Barn many times, it was good to be back at a more festive time of year, even if it was a chilly December day. As wedding receptions were not allowed at the time, bradley & Lia had opted to swap to my Mini Wedding collection, and it was just long enough for what they wanted to have covered.
After arriving I had a quick look around the venue (it had been a while since I was last here!) I popped up and said hello to Lia and the girls getting ready before grabbing Bradley and the groomsmen for a bit of 'prep', and thankfully Bradley's mum was on hand to help the boys with their buttonholes. Heading back to see the girls there was just time for a few bridal portraits before we all headed to the ceremony.
The new stairs at the back of the ceremony room at Cooling Castle looked great, and are much wider now for those big flowing wedding dresses like Lia's! There were a few tears during the ceremony, but plenty of laughs and smiles too, and the officiants were in high spirits which definitely helps! Afterwards I took everyone outside for a quick group photo and some confetti, before setting up for the rest of the smaller groups inside (did I mention it was pretty cold?!)
There was just enough time left to cut the cake and get a few photos of Bradley & Lia before we all had to leave the venue, and I decided to light up the famous castle towers emergency services blue in light of the couple's jobs - a fitting end to their intimate wedding day at Cooling Castle Barn.
