In the run up to their wedding in late September, I suggested to Mandy & Mark it might be an idea to take advantage of their complimentary engagement session they received as part of their wedding photography booking. Partly because Mark himself admitted to not liking being in front of the camera, and I wanted to help rid him of this phobia before the wedding day.
So we headed down to The Leas high above the seafront in Folkestone. I actually asked a friend of mine to assist me with some lighting for this session, as I wanted to get a bit creative as the sun went down, and it would have been tricky to balance this on my own. The golden hour light was simply gorgeous, and after we got some classic photos of Mandy & Mark walking along The Leas and chilling out together on a bench, we headed down the zigzag path to the beach.
It was pretty windy down along the sea, as I'm quite glad I had help with the lights! We got a lovely sunset and glorious colours behind Mandy & Mark, who I think by this point were getting a little cold, but it was worth it I think. When I turned up at their wedding not long after, their children had printed most of their photos out from their engagement session and arranged them in a big wooden heart at the reception - what a lovely idea!
If you're considering an engagement session before your wedding day, I would highly recommend it. Not only can you put any fears to bed, but you'll have a great giggle in the process, and get some lovely photos of you both at the end, what's not to love?!
