Stoke by Nayland Resort Spring Wedding with Rob & Ceri

Barely a few months after their beautiful spring engagement session at Wat Tyler Country Park, it was time for Rob & Ceri's wedding day at the Stoke by Nayland Resort, a golf and spa retreat north of Colchester. As it was a fair drive away from me, I set off nice and early to accommodate any traffic issues along the way. Rob & Ceri also had a relatively late ceremony for their wedding, which helped a little!

Ceri and the girls were already a fair way into their prep when I arrived, but there was a number of them needing hair and makeup, so no doubt they had a much earlier start than me! Rob was a bit more laid back with his getting ready, but my second photographer Rich was on hand to grab some photos of him and the boys before greeting guests before the ceremony.

Much like their engagement session, Rob & Ceri managed to pick a gloriously sunny day for their wedding, and they had the outdoor terrace area set aside for the ceremony - something I'd not done before! While it was lovely to get married outside, the sun was pretty warm that day! After their group photos (including a heart down on the grass) we were whisked to a lakeside spot for some quick photos of the happy couple before heading back for the wedding breakfast.

With the speeches concluded and the sun slowly going down, I suggested heading outside again for some beautiful 'golden hour' photos. With the majority of the golfers now having finished their rounds, the risk of stray golf balls was pretty low, so we made the most of the immediate area.

Back inside after cutting their amazing cake, their first dance brought a little extra excitement to proceedings with a confetti cannon! It wasn't long before everyone joined in and the the party really got underway, but I had one more idea in mind before I finished for the night - a really dramatic night time shot out on the terrace, with the glow of fairy lights on the railings.
