With the current pandemic meaning weddings and portrait sessions are on hold for the time being, I thought I would go back over some of the weddings from 2019 that I assisted on, but not yet put on the blog. So let's start with this fantastic spring wedding from last March at the wonderful Westerham Golf Club. This was my first time photographing at this lovely little venue and, despite it being a bit of a journey to get to, is certainly on my list of places to hopefully go back to in the future. It had a great atmosphere and a lovely bright and airy space for both the ceremony and reception. Not to mention extensive grounds that are great for photos of the couple, groups, and - if you're so inclined - some fireworks!
Nestled just south of the M25 not far from Sevenoaks, Westerham Golf Club. As one of the premier wedding destinations in the Southeast, they're well placed to put on a great party, and have their service plan down to a tee (if you'll pardon the pun!) Ray and Jessie's wedding was the first of 2019 where I was assisting Mykey Day Photography as the second shooter, and it was great to work at a new venue, too.
As Ray and Jessie had opted not to have bridal or groom preparations covered, we arrived before the ceremony to capture final preparations being done in the reception room (like the epic cake!) and the guests beginning to arrive. This was a bit of a fusion wedding, and the couple had opted for Asian-inspired outfits to fit the groom's heritage.
There was lots of smiles and laughter as the ceremony got underway, and it wasn't long before everyone was having a great time at the bar before all the guests gathered on the balcony to cheer for the newlyweds. Heading back inside the the wedding breakfast and speeches, the fairy lights shone warmly over the crowds as some great stories and anecdotes were told - much to everyone's amusement!
Then it was time for the cake, and Ray opted for a ceremonial sword to add a bit of drama to the occasion - thankfully no one needed any bandages before the first dance! It was clear that Ray and Jessie's guests were up for a party, as it wasn't long before the dance floor was packed. Really the only thing that could have topped today was fireworks. Oh did I mention they had fireworks?!
One of the most fun weddings I've assisted on to date, and a great blending of families and different backgrounds. Hopefully I'll be back at this lovely little venue in the future for more fun and laughter. If you're looking for a fun photographer who strives to capture those little moments, smiles during the speeches and who gets the best out of you and your guests, head over to my UK wedding photography page for my packages, or get in touch for a chat!
