Wadhurst Castle Summer Wedding with Alasdair & Megan

Nestled in the middle of the beautiful High Weald on the Kent and East Sussex border, Wadhurst Castle and it's stunning grounds played host to Alasdair & Megan's wedding near the end of August 2021. After spending a bit of time getting to know them both at Alasdair's parent's house nearby for their engagement session, it was great to see them again for their big day!

After familiarising myself with the castle and grounds, I headed upstairs to capture Megan & the girls getting ready, while Benji, my second shooter for the day, was with Alasdair and the boys a short drive away. The bridal party were really spoilt for views from the windows, as the grounds of the castle lay out before them and over the weald beyond. It wasn't long before guests began arriving and converging on the walled garden for the ceremony.

It's always great to have a ceremony outside, with the turrets and gardens of the castle making a dramatic backdrop as Alasdair & Megan tied the knot in front of their nearest and dearest, followed by confetti, drinks and lots of hugs and laughter. There was also time for some group photos on the lawns, and some beautifully romantic photos of the newlyweds as we did a lap around the grounds once more.

Alasdair then wanted to do something a little different, and do his speech before the wedding breakfast, but the castle steps as everyone else watched and listened below. I must say, it all seemed pretty heroic! Needless to say it went down a storm, with everyone making their way into the newly renovated carriage barn nearby for the meal. After, the rest of the speeches followed, including Megan herself to balance things out a little!

With the sun now setting and evening guests arriving, it was soon time to cut the (cheese) cake - a great stack of savoury delight, and a bit of a struggle to slice into by the looks of Alasdair's face. The first dance followed, with again a bit of drama on the dancefloor as the happy couple worked their way through a bit of a routine straight out of Strictly! Soon everyone else was joining in for a boogie, as my coverage came to a close. What a fantastic day, and a real gem of a venue tucked away in the countryside.
