It seems like such a long time ago that I first met Jez and Rebekah to have a chat about their wedding plans, but it was obvious that within about 10 minutes of talking that they had already made up their minds and wanted to book me, and I'm so glad they did! It's such a lovely feeling to really click with a couple, knowing that they're on board from the very beginning and really want to make an effort to ensure not only that their wedding is amazing, but that the photographs are amazing too.
Whilst Jez and Rebekah may have booked me in the summer of 2019, it wasn't long before 2020 and the Covid pandemic reared its ugly head! Thankfully the first lockdown eased off to allow us to get together for a fantastic engagement session at Ranscombe Farm near where they live, and this proved the perfect practice run for the two of them. It also gave us the chance to catch up and brainstorm more wedding ideas.
Finally their wedding day arrived, and with another lockdown on the horizon, they were super lucky to squeeze in their wedding in time, albeit with only 15 people in attendance (although the ceremony was recorded and live-streamed! We also lucked out with the weather, getting a clear day amongst a week of rain! I arrived at the Talbot Inn in Ripley in Surrey with Lori, my second photographer for the day, and we split up to capture both Jez and Rebekah getting ready separately before the ceremony.
Rebekah looked amazing with her floral hairpiece and off-the-shoulder wedding dress, and after a tearful first look with her dad it was time to get married! The ceremony room had some lovely rustic touches with fairy lights and flowers/vines wrapped around the wooden beams. After the ceremony we headed to a more modern part of the venue while the ceremony room was turned around for the meal and reception, so with daylight against us we captured some group photos before I took Jez and Rebekah for some quick couples photos as the sun set.
The speeches were of course a giggle, with Rebekah's dad breaking out a 'baby book' story, and Jez's two brothers putting on a great double act to finish. Wanting to make the most of a bit of time before the cake cut and first dance, I took the couple back outside for some really dramatic photos, lit up by the soft glow of strings of fairy lights overhead and coloured uplights in the courtyard. Rebekah even had a little twirl in her wedding dress.
Back inside the cake was cut, with Jez and Rebekah taking to the dance floor for their first dance, followed by a father/daughter dance with Rebekah's dad - something you don't see often but is always really special! Finally, to round off the day and my coverage, we gathered everyone together with some sparklers for a bit of fun outside. The perfect end to an amazing day with such a lovely couple!
