The Plough at Leigh Summer Wedding with Sam & Rebecca

The last time I had a wedding at The Plough at Leigh, near Tonbridge in Kent, was with Debbie & Peter back in 2018. So I was really excited that it was the daughter of one of Debbie's friends getting married this time, and I had been recommended to them after all this time! Plus, it's always nice to go back to venues you know already, and The Plough has a real countryside pub/barn feel to it, which is perfect if you're into really rustic venues and weddings.

As the venue doesn't have space to get ready, Rebecca and the girls were at The Carpenters Arms, another pub a short drive away in the morning. Rebecca wanted more of a focus on candid photos of proceedings, rather than too many of her getting ready. Even so, I made sure to include some photos of the bridal details and finishing touches to her makeup, and getting into her gorgeous backless wedding dress.

Back with Sam and the boys, my second photographer Benji made sure to soothe any anxious nerves, and similarly to me got lots of candid moments before heading to the venue as the guests started to arrive, where it wasn't long before I joined him ahead of Rebecca and the bridal party arriving.

It was another scorcher of a day, with little shade for the outdoor ceremony and reception drinks. Sam and Rebecca were also really keen to get the majority of their couples photos done before the meal, so it was a bit of a rush to fit everything in - but we managed it! Summer weddings allow an opportunity for photos after the meal too, so this can be an option if you want to relax a little more on the day.

As the temperature dropped a little, everyone descended on the beer garden after the speeches, with some gorgeous light, and the perfect time for the adults to go for a play on the swings (no doubt encouraged by a drink or two!) Then it was back inside for the first dance, and the return of a full dancefloor as the last of the Covid wedding restrictions had finally been lifted. Needless to say, it got a bit mental as everyone was keen to make the most of this newfound opportunity at the end of another fantastic wedding.
