Peter and Debbie got in touch with me about a year before their wedding at the beautiful and rustic Plough at Leigh near Tonbridge in Kent. We had the chance to chat and meet up a few times in the interim, including a visit to the venue, and I was really excited for their big day as I love a rustic barn-style wedding!
Their wedding rolled around, and they were incredibly fortunate to have such amazing weather! It was the early May bank holiday, and you couldn't have asked for more. Peter and Debbie opted to not have coverage of their morning preparations, so I made my way to the venue to capture some candids of the guests arriving and the main barn beautifully set up for the ceremony.
With everyone seated, Debbie and her father arrived in a vintage white wedding car, before they walked down the aisle preceeded by the bridesmaids (and an adorable little pageboy, too!). The ceremony was full of laughter and smiles, with a reading or two, before everyone headed back outside to enjoy drinks in the sunshine.
After confetti and some group photos in the massive beer garden, I borrowed the happy couple to have some photos taken by the wedding car before it left. During this time the barn had been turned around for the reception, and the table set ups were just beautiful! With delicate touches and details everywhere you looked, and some greak toppers on their wedding cake depicting rival football supporters!
I always love getting right amongst the action during the speeches, and these were especially fun to listen to and watch, with some real preparation and thought going into the jokes and stories! Afterwards, with the sun setting, I took Peter and Debbie to an adjacent field to capture some really romantic photos during the golden hour - you can't beat that sun-kissed glow at this time of day - just beautiful.
Back amongst their guests, the cake was cut and the happy couple took to the dance floor. With the lights down low the barn had a really romantic atmosphere, and it wasn't long before everyone else joined them for a boogie. They even had a photo booth in full swing in the evening too, and it was great fun grabbing some candid photos of guests picking out their favourite costumes and masks.
All in all a fantastic day and evening at the Plough at Leigh, a venue I hope to visit again in the near future!
