The Old Kent Barn Countryside Spring Wedding with James & Steph

After Their engagement session at Leonardslee Gardens back in the autumn, it was great to be seeing James & Steph again, and this time for their wedding day! Conveniently for me, they had booked The Old Kent Barn, a venue right on my doorstep. I actually drive past it quite regularly, but until now I'd not had the opportunity to work there, so I was quite excited (though not as much as they were to be getting married there!)

Arriving nice and early I took the time to check in with the staff and take some photos of the venue, while collecting some ideas for later on. James & Steph had opted not to much much in the way of getting ready photos taken, but I still caught some last minute preparations with them both as guests were beginning to arrive ahead of the ceremony.

Similarly to my previous wedding, James & Steph had also opted to write their own vows, and I could see the emotion and happiness on their faces as they said their 'I Do's'. After some celebrations and group photos in front of the main barn, I took some time to get some stunning photos of the two of them around the grounds of the venue. Considering it's quite a compact place, there were so many great opportunities for photographs.

In fact, they were so eager for photos, I took them out again quickly after the meal and the speeches. Sadly, the sunset was hidden behind some pesky clouds, but I had an ace up my sleeve and faked that lovely warm orange glow with the help of a portable flash!

Back inside it was time for the cake cut and some dancing, with the two of them really getting into it with a practically choreographed routine, complete with a dramatic dip and kiss at the end before everyone else joined in. But they had one more request for me - some photos amongst the fairy lights outside. And who was I to deny them that to round off their awesome wedding day?
