With Christmas fast approaching, I headed up to leafy Surry for Adam & Steph's wedding day in the bustling town of Coulsdon. I also had Benji on hand as my second photographer for the day, who would be with Adam and his groomsmen getting ready in the morning, while I would be with Steph and her bridesmaids. There was also a lovely little surprise a few days beforehand, in the form of a seasonal snow flurry, which gave the surrounding countryside a lovely dusting of white as I drove up there.
The ceremony was happening at St John the Evangelist Church, and Steph was getting ready at home literally just behind the church - which made for a super short journey when she and the girls were dressed. There was a lovely chilled atmosphere at home, with the Christmas tree and decorations giving a real homely feel. Steph went for red dresses for her bridesmaids, coupled with white faux fur shawls, to really match the seasonal feel and colours.
Over with Adam and the boys, they not only had to get themselves ready, but also Adam & Steph's little boy, who was a real superstar on the day! There was even time for a quick glass of bubbles and some family portraits out in the snowy back garden before heading off to the church to welcome their guests ahead of the ceremony starting.
The clean and minimalist decor of the church looked great, and provided a lovely backdrop to Adam & Steph's wedding ceremony. Afterwards, we arranged a great confetti line up for the two of them in the crisp December air. Sadly, because of the snow covering the only suitable place for a big group photo, this had to be skipped, but after setting up some lights back inside the church, we were allowed to use the front of the church and the aisle for the 'smaller' group photos before sending the guests on to the reception venue.
Before Adam & Steph departed the church too, we stayed behind for some cute couples photos in the grounds as the sun began to set. Arriving at Woodcote Park Golf Club, the Christmas theme continued inside, with the reception space and tables decorated beautifully with crackers, 'gingerbread' houses and lots of decorations, as well as the token big tree next to their guest book table.
The speeches, as usual, provided for some touching moments, hilarious stories, and a few tears. There was even a really lovely gift for Adam & Steph at the end which was given by one of their close friends - a watch that had been intentionally stopped when they kissed in the church before being mounted as a display piece. This would symbolise their marriage, forever frozen in time. After the speeches and the cake cut, the first dance began, and after a few minutes on their own, Adam & Steph were also joined by their son, along with the rest of their guests to dance the night away.
