My first wedding of the 2019 was a real treat, and at a venue I've not worked at before, but one that I had seen plenty of fellow photographers posting work from, so I knew ahead of time what was in store for me when I got there! Southdowns Manor is a real hidden gem in the middle of the South Downs National Park, and a really lovely self-contained venue with loads of character and opportunities for great photos in the grounds.
Hannah & Craig had been planning their wedding here for some time, and last year they both took advantage of an engagement session with me at Scotney Castle, which really stood them in good stead ahead of their big day back in March.
Sadly we didn't get the bright early spring sunshine on the day, but it did at least stay dry for us and we got some lovely soft lighting outside in the grounds for the photos, which I didn't mind at all! Hannah had an absolutely stunning fitted wedding dress and lovely flowers for her and the bridesmaids who were all definitely in the party spirit ahead of the ceremony!
The ceremony was a really special event and Craig managed to hold back the tears as Hannah walked down the aisle with her dad. The photos after were great fun and the wedding party were keen to add a bit of laughter to proceedings, something I always love to see at a wedding.
After the meal and speeches as the sun set, everyone gathered for the first dance before I took the newlyweds outdoors for some colourful night time portraits in the gardens to finish off the day. A great wedding at a lovely venue, topped off with great staff too! I hope I'll be back here soon, and I wish Hannah and Craig all the best for the future.
