Rapeseed Field Spring Lifestyle Portrait Session with Roxanne

For a number of years now I'd wanted to base a photoshoot in a rapeseed field, but I would either miss the opportunity and have them go out of bloom, or I would never be able to find one close by with reasonable access. This year, with the early spring cold snap, they were flowering later than usual and I managed to find a few fields nearby with good access. All the stars, it seemed, were finally aligned.

I met Roxanne and her dad next to the fields in question on a pretty cloudy day. It had actually been raining not long beforehand as I was driving there, even though it had been a dry morning that day for my portrait session with Chantel & Karl back home in Folkestone. After waiting for the weather to improve, we decided to chance it and tip-toed around the muddy entrance into the field.

As the location was quite rural, I wanted to begin with a more casual, also farmer-esque look for Roxanne, but something that still stood out amongst the vibrant yellow flowers of the rapeseed. Roxanne is also an aspiring musician, and suggested bringing her ukulele along as a prop, and what a great idea that was!

For our second look, Roxanne got changed into a stunning black and red dress with roses all over it, and again it really stood out against the yellow. A few twirls and some shades and she had a really glamorous look going as we finished off the session.

This was a great afternoon and I had so much fun chatting with Roxanne and her dad as we worked. There are so many amazing photos to choose from, so here are some of my favourites!
