Orpington & The Plough at Leigh Summer Wedding with Kyle & Alison

With it now being the height of summer, wedding season was in full swing for Kyle & Alison's big day back in June 2023. They had chosen my 10-hour Kilimanjaro package and, while it normally allows for coverage of bridal and groom prep in the morning, neither of them were that fussed with this part of the day being included in their photos, so decided to have the hours extend more into the evening instead.

That being said, I still made sure to include a few candid photos of Kyle getting his buttonhole put on outside St Mary's church, courtesy of my second photography for the day, Benji. There was also time to get some photos inside and outside the church before the bulk of their guests began to arrive.

It was certainly much cooler inside the church, and it wasn't long before everyone had their seats, with Alison and her bridesmaids and dad arriving to begin the ceremony. Space was a little limited in the church, which meant some unusual choices of angles at times, but it all plays a part in the storytelling of the day, so Benji and I made do with what we were given!

After all the guests has left the church to assemble outside, Kyle & Alison spent a few minutes getting some photos of just the two of them inside, sharing a few moments with each other before heading out for their confetti tunnel. We also took the opportunity to use the shade around the main church door to have some smaller group photos, opting to have the larger one of everyone at the reception venue.

The Plough at Leigh was quite a long drive from the church, and it took some time for everyone to arrive, but there were welcome drinks on offer and a chance for everyone to chill out in the sunshine in the gardens. After grabbing some photos of the inside of the barn and the décor, I grabbed Kyle & Alison again for some more photos around the venue.

Not being one for tradition and ceremony, the couple opted for very brief messages of thanks rather than full-blown speeches, and giving out some gifts to those who really helped make the day happen. Secretly I think they just wanted to get back outside for ice cream! With the room turned around, everyone headed back in for the cake cut and first dance, with the dancefloor soon filling with everyone having a great time.

I wasn't done yet though, and as the sun set while everyone was inside dancing, I offered to recreate a bit of a dramatic sunset with Kyle & Alison quickly before I departed, and it worked like a charm. A little bit of lighting magic goes a long way.
