Oakwood House Maidstone Autumn Wedding with Matt & Charlotte

Oakwood House used to be one of the most popular wedding venues in Kent, and it's with sadness that recently it was announced that it's use for this purpose would end sometime in the summer of 2019, turning the buildings into more office space for Kent Count Council instead. Naturally, this threw so many couples' wedding plans into disarray, and I dare say because of this, Charlotte & Matt's wedding at Oakwood House was the last wedding I attended here. That being said, Charlotte & Matt certainly made the most of their special day last October, when the sun shone brightly for this lovely couple during their celebrations amongst family and friends. They even had a magician in the evening doing the rounds amongst the reception guests!

It was lovely to go back to Oakwood House for Charlotte & Matt's wedding, where I was assisting Mykey Day Photography. Charlotte & Matt had a great day, and the weather was truly lovely considering it was well into the autumn in mid October. There was a definite relaxed atmosphere in the morning as Matt and his groomsmen got ready and mingled with guests in the bar, while Charlotte and her bridesmaids prepared in the large bridal suite amongst the many hotel rooms at the venue.  

After the ceremony, everyone was keen to get outside and enjoy the good weather, with a confetti toss and group photos followed by some lovely shots of the happy couple in the grounds and around the building before everyone headed inside for the wedding breakfast. The magician they had both hired to entertain their guests between courses and through the evening was definitely well-received.

The speeches as always were a good giggle, and revealed some rather juicy anecdotes and stories about the poor groom, courtesy of the best man! Charlotte & Matt's wedding cake was certainly a talking piece - a towering 4 tier tempered chocolate masterpiece, which they cut before taking to the dance floor with their guests as the party began and the celebrations continued into the night. A great day for a lovely couple!
