The great thing about being a wedding photographer is the opportunity to visit different parts of the country for couples having the best day of their lives. For the wedding of Eleanor and James, I headed down to East Sussex and the pretty little town of Lewes for their ceremony, before we all jumped on a hired double-decker bus for the journey down to Brighton and the rest of the wedding reception.
We had the weather on our side, and it was one of the warmest Saturdays of the summer, with throngs of tourists and sun seekers out and about in Brighton along the promenade, on the beach and enjoying the many bars and cafes. Eleanor and James had a lovely, laid back and chilled afternoon full of laughter, music and love - a great day on the south coast of England!
This was my first time in Lewes, and I was in for a treat - it's a really lovely quaint little town and provided the perfect backdrop for Eleanor and James' ceremony amongst their family and friends. I was tempted to try and get some lovely photos of the two of them amongst the narrow back streets and cute little cottages, but because we all had to make our way to Brighton after the ceremony, we decided to have some photos down on the beach instead.
The ceremony proved to be emotional and heartfelt in equal measure, with some tears being shed on both sides from the couple as they gave their vows and exchanged rings, but the mood soon lifted with the pastor's help as songs rang out through the church afterwards. Not wanting to miss out on the sunshine, we used the churchyard for some great group photos, including an 'alternative' confetti shot with lots of bubbles! Then it was time to climb on board the bus and head down to the coast.
Brighton was, as you can imagine for a sunny Saturday afternoon, pretty busy. The Brighton Music Hall was a great vantage point overlooking the sea and a pretty cool place to have a wedding reception. Drinks and conversation were flowing easily as the buffet began and the speeches followed. Then it was time to take the happy couple out for their own photos! Naturally I had to get some iconic beach photos, so we grabbed some deck chairs before going for a wander along the promenade. We may not have had long in the sun, as both Eleanor and James were certainly feeling the heat, but we got some lovely moments before we headed back indoors for the cake cut and first dance. A lovely way to round off the afternoon, and a great summer wedding was had by all!
