Kingswood Golf & Country Club Summer Wedding with Rob & Katharina

With covid restrictions beginning to ease, and limitations on weddings starting to fade, the prospect of a 'normal' wedding day seemed to be edging ever closer. Sadly, quarantine rules meant Katharina's parents were stuck in Germany. However, the happy couple made sure they were still a big part of the day with the use of skype and an ipad, allowing her family back in Germany to watch and be active in proceedings during the wedding.

Situated just inside the M25, the Kingswood Golf & Country Club in Surrey was a great venue for Rob & Katharina's big day, complete with some beautifully landscaped grounds to boot. Katharina opted to do her own makeup, and chose to not involve too many people in her bridal party, with Rob's mum playing a pretty big role as her mother-in-law. As everything was happening at the venue, my second shooter and I kept together throughout, capturing both bridal prep and some of Rob and his best man greeting guests.

As Katharina's parents weren't present, she walked down the aisle on her own - a first for me I have to admit - but it didn't seem to faze her at all! After the ceremony there were drinks and hugs before we headed outside for some confetti and group photos. I then had the chance to take Rob & Katharina for a short walk around the grounds (whilst dodging golf balls!) for some couples photos of the two of them.

After the meal, the speeches again took on an unusual twist, with Katharina's dad giving his speech via ipad from Germany in pretty good English given it wasn't his first language. Everyone was suitably impressed! We then had the chance to get both Rob & Katharina's parents in a 'group photo' of sorts. I then took the couple to a newly renovated part of the venue for a few creative photos before the cake cut and first dance, complete with a live band!

To finish our coverage for the day, I suggested heading outside for a few quick sunset photos, as the sun had finally peeked out from behind the clouds and was bathing the grounds in a beautiful orange glow. This was the perfect end to their wedding day, before Rob & Katharina heading back inside to carry on dancing with their guests.
