Late October and into early November is always a great time of the year for outdoor portrait sessions, especially with the beautiful autumnal colours. With that in mind, I wanted to try and combine this with a bit of a styled shoot, and Halloween made the ideal theme to use. Despite arranging the session for two weeks after Halloween itself, everything came together so well to create a little bit of witchy magic!
Styled shoots are usually a little trickier to organise, as there tend to be so many more suppliers to consider, when everyone is available and so on. For this shoot we had a great small team involved, with the Pretty Prep Studios providing a lovely space to organise everything and do the hair and makeup before heading over to Hothfield Common for the photography.
This was the first time working with Cara, our lovely model for the afternoon, and she brought real enthusiasm to the role as well as rocking the witches outfit superbly. Lara the make up artist and Terri the hair stylist also accompanied us to Hothfield Common, and provided some much needed extra hands (which came in useful when setting off some smoke bombs, something I always like to use when the occasion calls for it).
We were racing against the sunset towards the end of the session, but the warm glow through the trees proved a really effective end to the session. Cara even went home with one of the small pumpkins afterwards, calling it Pete the pumpkin - can you guess which one it was?!
