Shortly after I did my first ever pet photo shoot with Kim, Jamie and their cute little Golden Retriever Rusty, someone else got in touch about having a session with their dog Nora. This time it was Christie, and we had the great idea of combining a dog walk with the session somewhere that she often takes her dog anyway - a bit of open parkland near Ashford.
I suggested Hothfield Common, near Ashford, as it was both local to Christie and a great open space often used by dog walkers. With the summer now coming to a close, we had some great colours on display, including the pinks and purples of the heather coming out. This was the perfect backdrop for some lovely photos of Nora, both on her own, and with Christie and her partner Paul in some almost Christmas card worthy poses! Once we got Nora to sit still, of course.
As all puppies are, Nora was very excitable when I first met her, but she was very cute - a liver-spotted Dalmatian. I thought it would be useful to let her burn off a bit of excess energy first and let her get used to me being around, so took some natural photos of Christie and her partner playing about with Nora.
Once she had calmed down a little, and with a little persuasion too (and the promise of some treats!) we got Nora to sit and almost pose for a few minutes, and get some lovely postcard-worthy photos of the three of them too. It wasn't long before she was bounding around again, chasing birds and chewing on tree branches, but it was great to inject a bit of personality into the photos too.
We spent a little longer than the normal 30-45 minutes, but it was so worth it in the end and they came away with some great photos. If you'd like to make your pet a model for the afternoon, check out my pet pawtrait mini sessions and get in touch for more information!
