Hampstead Heath, and in particular the Hill Garden and Pergola, have been on my list of places to explore ever since I saw a fellow photographer post a blog about going there with a couple for an engagement session. It looked such a magical place I was keen to go there myself and take some photos.
Sadly I didn't have a couple on this occasion, but I did get together with Maria who lives (relatively) locally to explore this often forgotten about part of London. After meeting her at Hampstead tube station, we headed up the hill towards our home for the next few hours.
It was a bitterly cold late February day, but the winds were mild and the sun even came out, which really added a touch of drama and some awesome shadows to the location. The white marble columns and vegetation growing everywhere meant the area had an almost 'ancient ruins' kind of feel, which I really digged! We got some great photos here, and I'll definitely be back again in summer sometime.
I love photographing in places like this, so If you'd like to organise your own photo session in a quiet (or even a busy) part of London, or anywhere else for that matter, head over to my portrait photography page for more details, or get in touch here to enquire.
