Almost a year ago to the day I returned to Chilston Park Hotel in Kent to help photograph the early June wedding of Jamie & Amy. This is only the second time I've shot a wedding at Chilston Park, and it was lovely to be back again - needless to say lots of happy memories came flooding back. Jamie & Amy had some characteristically British weather for their wedding day, with rain clouds coming and going in the morning before the sunshine broke through in time for the ceremony. These two pulled out all the stops for their wedding day, with a red double decker bus, three classic Rolls Royce and a vintage Ford Mustang to ferry everyone to the church, all topped off with some fireworks at the end on the night - amazing!
Chilston Park Hotel is the epitome of a classic country house wedding venue. Set in the heart of Kent between Maistone and Ashford in some truly stunning grounds, the hotel and adjoining stable block and cottages can play host to weddings of all sizes. For Jamie & Amy's special day I was again working as the second photographer for Mykey Day Photography.
With the groomsmen getting ready super quickly in the morning, they were soon on hand to begin greeting their guests and sorting out their buttonholes before a surprise for the groom turned up... A very sexy vintage Ford Mustang (with the air intake sticking out of the bonnet!) Along with the red double decker bus and three classic Rolls Royce, the fleet of wedding vehicles was assembled.
After the guests and groom had left for the church in Bearstead near Maidstone, the Bridal party made their way down the grand staircase and left for the ceremony, too. The church service was beautiful and afterwards there was enough confetti thrown at the couple to sink a battleship!
Back at Chilston Park, everyone was seated for dinner and the speeches promptly followed - with some great jokes being made that resulted in a fair few belly laughs. I always love this part of the day and it's always so much fun to get everyone's reactions.
Jamie & Amy opted for a stunning 5 tier cake wrapped in a spiral of flowers before jumping into their first dance while their family and friends looked on. It wasn't long before everyone joined in and throwing shapes on the dance floor to the music of the live band. After the sun had set it was time to end with a bang, and the fireworks from across the lake were an amazing end to the day.
Epic wedding days like this one at Chilston Park are what I live for, and I love capturing all the little details that make the day your own, and making sure I document your guests all having a great time while they help you celebrate your big day.
