Meet the man behind the camera

Photography has always been a huge passion of mine, long before I started my own business. It was around the time that digital cameras first came out that I really became interested in the craft. I may not have had the experience of developing film myself in a darkroom, but I was really excited by the possibilities that digital photography brought to the table.

From experiments at home with those early cameras, to finding my legs when it came to editing, I eventually moved on to gear similar to what I have today - albeit much more basic. I quickly learnt that my love of photography paired well with travelling, and so my camera came with me everywhere. This really allowed me to have fun with new genres, such as wildlife, landscape, and even some candid portraits of locals along the way.

After university I needed a new direction in life. Moving between different minimum wage just wasn't engaging for me, but eventually I had that lightbulb moment. Some close friends of mine who were engaged and knew I was into photography asked if I could take some nice photos of the two of them.

Having never 'posed' people before, I was a little nervous, but we found somewhere scenic and whilst we explored, I took photos of my friends before editing and delivering them on a CD. Up to this point I hadn't considered turning my hobby into a career, but their comments and feedback made me think that maybe it was a viable option. So back in 2015 I started my business alongside retail work, and it wasn't long before the balancing act became too much. I left my conventional job and decided to pursue photography full time, and I haven't looked back since!

What you'll find me doing in my spare time

When I'm not busy taking photos, you'll find me filling my free time with all sorts of activities! I've always been a keen traveller, and over the years I've been lucky to have visited many countries around the world - whether with family, friends, or even on my own. There's still a bucket list of places to tick off, but I'm not one for a 2 week beach holiday, so you'll often find me off the beaten track and really getting stuck into the local culture. I'm also a big fan of activity holidays, especially hiking, and these have provided a lifetime of memories such as the summit of Kilimanjaro, a visit to Everest Base Camp, and the Tour du Mont Blanc to name a new.

Back in the UK you'll also find me out on the trail, and I love to get out and about with a bag on my back or booking a camping trip away - especially places like Snowdonia and the Lake District. Alongside my own outdoor pursuits, I also work with the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme in Kent, both as a trainer and an assessor for the outdoor expeditions. It's a great feeling to be able to share my years of knowledge and help groups of young people have an awesome experience in nature.

Since the summer of 2024 I've also taken up running more seriously, having only done a handful of Parkruns beforehand (I was never that active when I was younger either - funny how things change!) I've now run in a number of races, and am currently training for my first marathon in April 2026. It's safe to say I've caught the bug, and I'm excited to see where it leads me next.
